Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced leader to join our Business Intelligence (BI) team. This crucial role is focussed on supporting the Planning, Growth & Sustainability (PGS) and Communities Directorates to be evidence-led and performance-focussed by leading a team of BI professionals to deliver high quality business intelligence products.

This exciting and varied role is available as a permanent position in our centralised Business Intelligence team.

Salary Range (based on full time hours): Annual salary up to £76,581

About the role

As a Business Intelligence Business Partner, you will lead the delivery of our comprehensive business intelligence work plan, ensuring high performance and innovative solutions. You will lead and inspire your team to undertake continued professional development and develop innovative solutions to make best use of our data. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining pipelines of business intelligence work, delivering strategic reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

You will take a lead role, working with senior managers in the PGS and Communities services, to deliver a focussed BI work programme which benefits the PGS and Communities Directorates, the wider Council, and Buckinghamshire residents. You will lead a team of BI professionals to deliver on BI priorities, ensuring the insight and analysis conducted is used to drive business improvement, behaviour change, and innovation in service delivery.

You will pro-actively and continuously develop your professional knowledge, skills and behaviours, and act as a role model for members of your team and the wider BI function. You will be an experienced leader who can foster a positive and enabling culture around learning and development and ensure relevant opportunities are made available to your team.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with proven leadership abilities, substantial experience in service planning and delivery, and a good knowledge of data analysis, data reporting tools, and statistical techniques. You should be educated to degree level or equivalent and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You will have:

  • Proven leadership ability, with evidence of developing a multi - disciplinary team approach, managing staff, inspiring confidence, encouraging, motivating and influencing others
  • Significant experience of leading and sustaining partnerships both internally and externally
  • Authority and credibility to work effectively in a political environment, establish positive and productive relationships with stakeholders, and engage successfully with colleagues, partners and customers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to a wide range of audiences both horizontally and vertically throughout the organisation
  • An excellent understanding of the role business intelligence plays in improving outcomes and why good data management and access is vital for the organisation
  • Proven ability to think innovatively and conceptually and deliver against this
