Business Support Officer

Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Support Officer to join our Corporate Business Support team, with responsibility for supporting the Human Resources (HR) & Organisational Development (OD).

You will work alongside colleagues in HR and OD to provide essential support in carrying out financial work in processing of invoices, raising invoices, analysing invoices and dealing with complex queries, for a variety of customers for HR and traded services.  Along side of this you will support them with financial contract management support. HR’s traded services are a critical element of the councils budget and maintaining good working relationships with customers is key to the HR&OD service.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.

About you

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated with a willingness to learn. You will be working as part of a busy team and will need to be able to work collaboratively but also independently using your own initiative. You will already have a strong administrative background and also be able to demonstrate the following key skills and behaviours:

  • Work at a fast pace
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Able to spot issues and escalate these to relevant colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Sensitivity and empathy when speaking to colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Approachable with a ‘can do’ attitude and strong customer service skills
  • Professional at all times
  • A good knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be given.
  • Previous experience of note taking would be beneficial but coaching and mentoring will be offered

The team are currently working in office/work from home, the arrangements are 2 days a week in the office.
