Salary details: Bucks Pay Scale 4 (£29,477 - £31,645 FTE) Pro rata equates to approximately £25,043 - £26,885 PA

About the role

Job Purpose:

To work within the trust to provide support, guidance, teaching and training to students with the aim of supporting them into sustainable employment,

Liaising with:

Senior Leadership team(s), subject teachers, SENCO and relevant staff supporting the students, external agencies, employers and parents/carers

Main objectives

To build relationships with students and through support, training and advice help them address any barriers to employment.

Manage a caseload of neurodiverse students affected by a range of learning and mental health issues to secure and sustain paid employment and/or work experience.

To provide individualised support with a focus on workplace preparation and interventions for students as they transition into work.

To have a creative approach to engaging with students founded in knowledge and understanding of their educational and neurodiverse needs.

To have an understanding of evidenced based IPS employment practice, with a focus on delivering a person-centred, high-quality service which results in meeting and exceeding sustained job outcome targets for people accessing the service.

To provide advice and support to employers, as agreed with the individual, which may include negotiating adjustments and on-going contact with supervisors to ensure job retention.

To provide support and teaching, addressing the students’ needs based upon their individual action plans.

To assess individual support needs related to work which might typically include help with in-work benefits, travel to work, managing health at work etc. and to continue providing this both on the supported internship and once in employment to ensure they retain work.

To monitor students academic progress in relation to their career aspirations.

To work collaboratively with Senior Leadership and other job coaches, careers advisor, families and other teams within CWAT.

To maintain a professional relationship with the students with other staff, with particular attention to confidentiality, trust policies and maintenance of professional boundaries.

To work independently, reliably and deliver high quality supported internships and job coaching following IPS based practice with a focus and commitment to ongoing professional development.

Create a job coaching plan and complete steps of coaching plan with student and other parties as appropriate.

Provide travel training to job site as required and transporting students to careers events, interviews as per Trust risk assessments.

About you

Qualifications:
Essential

NVQ level 3 Award or equivalent in Education and Training, GCSE maths & English (A-C)

Full UK Driving License and willingness to transport students

Desirable

HLTA qualification, NVQ Level 4, A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people in a role supporting learning or employment.

Higher Level Qualification in careers support / guidance

Desire to continue study and complete Professional Development within careers, as required by the trust.

Abilities, Skills & Knowledge

Ability to communicate effectively with students with barriers to learning, including those who may communicate using challenging behaviour.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, carers and other external contacts, at all levels, using a variety of media.

Ability to approach prospective employers and other stakeholders to create and maintain all necessary links and partnerships in support of Workways and CWAT.

Ability to communicate a commitment to the view that students with Special Educational Needs can and do achieve.

Ability to organise own work and meet strict deadlines.

Ability to adopt a creative and flexible approach in all areas of the role.

Clear and concise report writing and verbal presentation. A willingness to learn, undertake training and to take on responsibility when required.

Ability to promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of all learners with neurodiverse learning needs, including those who may communicate using challenging behaviour.

Ability to promote equality, diversity, recognise and actively challenge stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination ensuring that these principles permeate all working practices.

A commitment to promote the Equality and Diversity Policy, Safeguarding policies, Health and Safety Policy and other Chiltern Way Academy policies.
