Overview
We would like to appoint a School Caretaker to join our friendly team at Kite Ridge School as soon as possible.

Salary Type: Bucks pay
Salary details: £12.90 per hour, rising to £13.28 from 1st April 2025
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 12 per week (15:00-17:00 Monday - Friday, plus 2 hours per week tba)

About us
Kite Ridge School is a specialist secondary PRU, offering long stay placements, for young people aged between 11 and 19 with a range of Learning Difficulties and a presentation of behaviour that challenges others.

About the role
• Security of premises – To be a school keyholder and to be responsible for the routine and non- routine (emergencies) opening and closing of the school site.
• Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security including alarm systems as required. To ensure that the heating plant and electrical systems are functional and maintained in accordance with the instructions given.
• Monitoring and supporting the cleaning of the school premises as required.
• Undertake regular Health & Safety checks of buildings and grounds; fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Perform duties in line with Health and Safety regulations (including routine fire alarm, emergency light and Legionella testing) and take action where hazards are identified.
• Undertake some clerical duties in relation to role (e.g. monitoring inspection forms and maintenance requests).
• Carry out basic maintenance to school premises; this may include decorating, carpentry, basic plumbing and other jobs as specified.
About you
We are looking for a friendly and reliable person with hands on experience in various areas of DIY (e.g.: plumbing, decorating, carpentry, basic electrics). A Health & Safety certification (e.g. IOSH Working Safely) would be an advantage. Necessary training will be provided.
