Children’s Finance Role
The team provides financial modelling and costings on major projects and transformation across the Children’s Services Directorate, being an essential member of project delivery groups. We also support on procurement projects, closedown of the accounts and financial support and advice on other budget matters. The work we do means we work with finance and non-finance people in Children’s Social Care and Education.
Resources Finance Role
The team provides finance support and advice to the Resources Directorate in the Council. The Resources Directorate consists of ICT, HR & OD, Business Operations, Finance and Business Management Functions. We work closely as a team, meeting at least twice a week to understand what everyone is working on and to support each other. The work we do means we work with finance and non-finance people both in Resources and other directorates. We check and challenge the service areas forecasts on a monthly basis and provide support to the service on both Revenue and Capital. We also support these service areas for Service Reviews, Projects, Procurement, closing of the accounts and any other ad-hoc queries.
About the role
As a Finance Analyst/Finance Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in providing financial modelling, support, advice, and guidance to Senior Managers and Budget Managers as well as provide robust support to Senior Finance Managers. Your responsibilities will include ensuring consistent accountancy activities, offering technical and professional advice, and supporting the Finance Service Offer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide robust financial modelling and technical and professional advice to Heads of Service, Budget managers, and other officers within the Council to support their decision-making in delivering value-for-money services to Buckinghamshire residents.
- Ensure all accountancy activities are carried out consistently across the Council, in line with the agreed operating model framework, statutory duties, and professional best practices.
- Support and proactively contribute towards the delivery of the Finance Service Offer via the Business Partner model adopted across the Finance function, including the full financial cycle of budget planning, budget monitoring, and closing the accounts at the end of the year.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We are looking for a candidate who is proud, ambitious, collaborative, and trustworthy. You should have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Qualifications: AAT or equivalent, CCAB part-Qualified with relevant experience, and evidence of continuing professional development.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in financial software and tools. A proven ability to work with complex data and spreadsheets are essential.
- Experience: Proven experience in providing financial support and advice, managing budgets, and working collaboratively with different departments in an ever-changing environment.
- You need to be able to work on your own initiative, as well as within the team and under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.
