About the role

Our wonderful school has an opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and rewarding environment. Are you a dynamic, multi-tasking and kind individual who enjoys it when every day brings new and exciting challenges? If so, we’d love for you to join our vibrant school's front office team! As the friendly face and first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Your responsibilities will include managing front desk inquiries, answering phone calls and emails, and handling a variety of pastoral, medical and administrative tasks with care and professionalism:

  • Administering first aid to our pupils
  • Maintaining health care plans
  • Monitoring complex health care needs, e.g. diabetes
  • Administering medication and injections
  • Keeping accurate records
  • Seeking advice from external services such as school nurses and NHS services
  • Inputting and maintaining pupil records on Arbor, our MIS
  • Be responsible for keeping attendance registers on Arbor up to date and monitor pupil absences
  • Monitor attendance and liaise with parents, working closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion
  • Act as a focal point for the school’s Friends Association (PTA) and help them with the organisation of their events
  • Coordinate bookings and organise school events such as parents evening and performances
  • Organise school trips and liaise with external providers for these
  • Update the school website with information as and when required
  • Liaise with other schools in the local and wider area
  • Handle cash transactions and record them appropriately
  • Receive deliveries of post and packages
  • Ensure all visitors are checked and that they sign in and out appropriately

You will be working closely with our parents, other support staff and the senior leadership team, especially the Inclusion Manager, keeping the best outcomes for all our children at the forefront at all times. You will also be trained to become one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

About you

A resilient, positive, friendly and helpful ‘can do’ attitude is key to success when working in our school office. You need to be self motivated, hard working, inclusive and flexible enough to lend your hand to any task that comes your way.

As this role will be dealing with many varied medical and pastoral issues, we are looking for someone who is warm, kind and caring with a positive approach towards children and ideally with experience of working within a health or medical care setting. We would prefer you to have worked in an administration role previously, ideally in a school, and to have a high level of IT literacy.

As you would be dealing with confidential matters, you need to be discreet and diplomatic at all times. You would also need to be willing to attend training appropriate to the role and be prepared to become one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.
