Public Health Strategy Manager
Location: Aylesbury
Overview
Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Public Health Strategy Manager to support the Head of Public Health Strategy and Director of Public Health in the operational management of the Public Health team, as well as supporting the delivery of the teams Service Plan, including leading, advising, influencing and collaborating on complex high priority projects across the Public Health portfolio.
About us
Buckinghamshire is an exciting place to work and a beautiful place to live. It has a population of more than 500,000 and although generally healthy and wealthy, there are significant public health challenges and inequalities across the county.
There is excellent partnership working across Buckinghamshire with a strong network between the local authority, NHS, community and charitable organisations. The Council is now a unitary authority which enhances our ability to address the broader determinants of health.
The Public Health department is based in Buckinghamshire Council offices in Aylesbury but with sites across the county and very effective remote working in place.
About the role
You will support the Head of Public Health Strategy and Director of Public Health in the operational management of the Public Health team, including the budget, corporate requirements, strategic planning, communications and team development. You will also work with the Public Health extended management team to support the delivery of the teams Service Plan, including leading, advising, influencing and collaborating on complex high priority projects across the Public Health portfolio.
You will ensure effective co-ordination and collaboration by working across the Public Health team, and in partnership with other teams within the Council and a wide range of external organisations. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to making a real impact on health improvement and reducing inequalities in health.
The role also provides an opportunity to gain broad knowledge, experience and skills across the public health portfolio. We offer flexible working and opportunities for continuing professional development, including the opportunity to work towards registration on the UK Public Health Register.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Public Health, operational management, collaborative working, problem solving and project & process management. You will be able to quickly build positive working relationships with colleagues and partners.
You will have proven ability to prioritise, and co-ordinate workloads, organise, monitor and evaluate work, and you will take a pro-active approach to driving progress to ensure that deadlines are achieved.
