Are you a data-driven professional with a passion for systems, structure, and strategic impact? Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a Data and Systems Lead to join our Asset Management team and play a pivotal role in shaping how we manage and utilise property data across the council.

Our team of 15 includes qualified property asset managers and service-specific operations staff. We are a friendly and supportive group, working across three sites in Buckinghamshire.

The successful candidate will receive appropriate training and ongoing support—not only from their line manager but also from the wider operations staff and the Asset Management team. Our team sits within the Communities Directorate and is part of the newly created Corporate Property & Assets Service, which also includes Property Services, Facilities Management, Construction, and Energy teams.

 

About the role

As the Data and Systems Lead, you will be the cornerstone of our asset data management. You’ll ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of our property records, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic decisions. You’ll also take an key role in the council’s property registration programme with the Land Registry and act as the GDPR lead for the Asset Management team.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Maintain the Council’s corporate database (currently K2) and digital records with data relating to property assets.
  • Lead the digitisation of service records and ensure secure, accessible data storage.
  • Administer SharePoint/Teams groups and manage data sharing with external partners.
  • Support the overseeing of lease event tracking and ensure timely action on rent reviews and renewals.
  • Support senior leadership with data analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinate the registration of council-owned land with the Land Registry.
  • Maintain accurate GIS and mapping records.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and provide training/support to the team.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We are looking for a new colleague who demonstrates the following knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Strong experience in asset or property data management.
  • Excellent knowledge of legal property documentation and land registration processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and database systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex data clearly.
  • Experience working collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Educated to NVQ 4 / HND / BTEC level or equivalent experience.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates who possess the following desirable additional skills:

  • CAD certification or experience.
  • Experience with GIS systems and preparing legally compliant lease plans.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

While the Asset Management Team members work from home three days a week and in the office two days, we primarily communicate via Microsoft Teams, with regular opportunities to collaborate in person.
