Quality Co-ordinator for Subcontracted Learning

Overview

Buckinghamshire Adult Learning are the main provider of part-time learning opportunities for adults in Buckinghamshire, inspected by Ofsted in April 2024 and graded ‘good’ overall with an ‘outstanding’ grade for our Adult provision.

We offer a broad programme of taught courses, workshops and online learning delivered from almost 140 locations across the county including dedicated Adult Learning centres, schools, community and employer premises. To extend our reach and offer a broader curriculum for residents, we commission subcontractors to deliver funded programmes on the Council’s behalf. This role ensures that the quality of this subcontracted delivery matches or exceeds our in-house standards, encourage improvement of provision by the sharing of good practice and provides residents with positives course outcomes.

This is a Fixed Term/Secondment position for 12 months.

About the role

We are seeking a Subcontractor Coordinator to oversee the quality of DfE-funded programmes (e.g., Adult Skills and Skills Bootcamps) delivered through commissioned Training Providers. You will:
  • Implement our Quality Improvement Framework through classroom visits, observations, audits, and learner feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors, supporting their continuous improvement through CPD and quality assurance.
  • Monitor learner outcomes and work with providers to address achievement gaps.
  • Collect case studies and testimonials to demonstrate programme impact.
  • Support promotional activities and contribute to strategic planning and self-assessment processes.

About you

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have substantial experience in adult education and subcontracted provision.
  • Understand the Skills agenda, OFSTED and DfE requirements, and awarding body standards.
  • Be confident in communicating with diverse stakeholders and adapting messaging accordingly.
  • Be skilled in using digital platforms including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and MIS systems.
  • Be capable of writing evaluative reports and delivering constructive feedback.
  • Hold a relevant teaching qualification (Cert Ed/DTLLS or equivalent) or be working towards it.
  • Possess a full driving licence and be able to travel across the county.
