Waste Services Support Manager

Overview

We have an exciting opening within a busy and dynamic waste management team, for the full-time position (37 hours) of Waste Services Support Manager.

You will be responsible for the management and coordination of all interactions and activities between Corporate Business Support teams and the Operational and Contracts team in both the North and South of Buckinghamshire.

The Waste Services Support Manager will work closely with the team and a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis. You will provide knowledge and expertise on contractual, legislative & local policy requirements.

The role will ensure high levels of performance and customer service within the North and South Waste Teams, ensuring tasks are completed within the timescales set in Service Level Agreements.

We are a fast paced team managing a complex and exciting outsourced waste collection and street cleansing contract in the south of Buckinghamshire as well as providing services in the North of the County through its in-house team. You will be working across both service areas, providing a consistent approach to stakeholder engagement and communication with residents and customers.

We are looking for an individual with excellent customer service skills, organisational skills and who can form excellent working relations with a wide range of internal and external partners, to enhance the reputation of the council.

About the role

  • Overall management and coordination of all interaction and activities between Corporate Business Support and Operational/Contract Team in North and South Waste.
  • Make operational decisions and prioritise work taking account of stakeholder requirements ensuring local SLA’s are achieved. Ensure service quality, efficiency and continuity are maximised.
  • Identify additional service requirements or service shortfalls and recommend innovative solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. Lead agreed initiatives to improve business processes and performance. Support policy and service development.  Lead specialist projects or contribute to the delivery of larger programmes, this can include maximising IT integration to reduce manual handling of service requests.
  • To ensure that customer contacts into the teams (phone calls, emails, web forms, letters) are dealt with, within corporate timescales and that high customer care standards are applied by the team.
  • Interpret and recommend policy, resolve complex issues, proactively anticipate problems and deliver solutions which enhance the quality and efficiency of services.

Any-Desk – hybrid working between High Wycombe and Aylesbury and working from home.

About you

We require someone with substantial relevant experience of working in the service area/related profession field, with evidence of work responsibilities appropriate to the role and appropriate level of expertise.

You will have a strong customer service background and skillset to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

You will be able to exercise initiative and determine which course of action should be taken within policy framework and service plan.
