Overview

Are you passionate about data, performance and driving service improvements? We are seeking a proactive and dynamic Data and Performance Team Leader to join our South Waste and Street Cleansing Team. This role is pivotal to deliver the overall Data Management activities for the team. Tracking and managing existing data, including service performance and tonnage data. Identifying and gathering data sources that currently don’t exist, including resident participation data and composition data.

Interpreting, analysing and forecasting data trends and ensuring data is robust and reliable.

Lead on integrating raw data into IT systems, for example, Power Bi for ease of use or corporate reporting.

We are a fast-paced team managing a complex outsourced waste collection and street cleansing contract in the south of Buckinghamshire, as well as providing services in the North of the County through its in-house team. You will work closely with our contractor Veolia and other key stakeholders, focusing on embedding changes, innovation, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

We are looking for an individual with excellent data management skills and proficient in Power Bi development and Excel. Great organisational skills and someone who can form excellent working relations with a wide range of internal and external partners, to enhance the reputation of the Council.

About the role

As the Data and Performance Team Leader, you will lead and support a small team to deliver data activities, including but not limited to monthly and annual statutory tonnage data reporting, trends analysis regarding service performance or similar. Leading data improvement projects and activities.

You will work closely with the wider waste team and colleagues across North Waste Services to:

  • Make operational decisions and prioritising work taking account of needs within the Southern Waste Team
  • Manage specialised systems (including Echo, Power Bi, Abavus (CRM), weighbridge systems)
  • Develop, implement, maintain and manage complex systems, data sets and standards within the Southern Waste Team.
  • Research, manage and evaluate complex information and data to offer interpretation, understanding of root causes, or opportunities for improvement within the Southern Waste Team.
  • Produce, present and disseminate comprehensive reports
  • Work with colleagues from other Neighbourhood Services Waste teams to improve the use of data and data analysis.
  • Monitor contracts to agreed standards, particularly KPI’s, and ensure services to budget and standards.
  • Manage projects or contribute to larger organisation wide programmes to agreed specification, timescales, budgets and meet Government agenda requirements are met.
  • Track performance, where possible, of the Southern Waste team to identify training needs, gaps is processes which might lead to weaknesses in data.

Workstyle: Any-Desk – all members of the South Waste Team work in the office in High Wycombe on Wednesday and one other day of the week (TBC). Travel will be required to other council buildings and depots based in Aylesbury and Amersham for occasional meetings or training.

Significant relevant experience and success in a similar work environment, backed by evidence of appropriate specialist expertise

Excellent data management skills and proficient in Power Bi development, Excel.

Significant experience in analysing, interpreting and forecasting large sets of data.

Excellent knowledge and working ability for all Microsoft Programs.

Proven ability to monitor performance and take remedial action to achieve targets.

Experience of working in a waste service environment.

Experience of Wastedataflow.
