Overview

LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT in EYFS from September 2025

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant for a full time role (preferred, part time considered), term time only, working with children in EYFS.

Good literacy and numeracy skills, a positive approach, patience and a sense of humour are essential for all posts within the school. Experience of working with a variety of needs including ASC would be beneficial.

Job Salary: The salary for the position is £23,996- £24,950 FTE pro rata (Bucks Pay ISN6-10) depending on experience. Term Time Only

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time preferred

About the role

PURPOSE OF THE POST: 

To work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff, undertaking work/care/support programs in order to maximise academic and personal development of pupils. To enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment

  • Training in relevant strategies
  • First Aid, Child Protection and Safeguarding training
  • Additional training as necessary to ensure that children’s needs are met

Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Effective use of ICT to support learning.
  • Use of other equipment and technology to support learning.
  • Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
  • General understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Able to work with and be directed by fellow professionals.
