Business Support Administrator (Blue Badge Team)

Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, friendly and driven individual with experience of working within a fast-paced administrative role.

As a Business Support Administrator, you will be working with the Blue Badge Team reporting to the Blue Badge Team Manager and will play a major role in assessing customer applications for blue badges.

You will be expected to combine excellent IT skills with a strong customer focus in order to assess and issue blue badges to the residents of Buckinghamshire. This role requires excellent organisation skills, an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

This is a secondment/ Fixed- Term Contract opportunity until 31st of March 2026.

About the role

The key areas of responsibility within the role are as follows:

  • Process Blue Badge applications against the set criteria from which is set by the Department For Transport
  • Liaise with Customers on a regular basis, to determine what documentation is required to determine their eligibility, either face to face, telephone or email
  • Update and maintain accurate records on the Blue Badge Database
  • To carry out typing of reports, letters and other correspondence

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

  • Desirably have experience in processing Blue Badges and the legislation around eligibility.
  • Able to make decisions, in accordance with guidance and policies
  • To be enthusiastic and have the ability to multi task and work at a fast pace.
  • Be happy to work in a constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an excellent work ethic in terms of attendance, performance and attitude.
  • Be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint to at least intermediate level (this will be tested at interview)
  • Be familiar with the internet and web based applications
  • Be quick and enthusiastic to learn new systems
  • Be able to listen and summarise what you hear into succinct notes (this will be tested at interview)
  • Have a very good standard of written grammar and punctuation (this will be tested at interview)
  • Have an excellent telephone manner and experience of dealing with customers
  • Demonstrate that you are caring and considerate of others
