Business Officer

Overview

 Are you passionate about driving change and delivering improvement in public services? We’re looking for a proactive and skilled Business Officer to join our Adults and Health Strategy, Improvement and Governance team.

In this key role, you’ll support a wide-ranging programme of work focused on governance, assurance, and strategic improvement. You’ll work closely with services across the directorate, providing expert advice on risk, audit, planning, and compliance, while helping to shape key governance documents and support major projects.

About the role

The post is based in the Strategy, Improvement and Governance team. We are a small team that supports the Adults and Health Directorate. The post holder will need to show initiative in their work to deliver on corporate and directorate priorities, developing and maintaining excellent relationships with officers, managers and project leads at all levels within the service and across partner organisations where appropriate.

The role is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a real contribution to the service and to make a difference for our residents.

Key activities will include:

  • Operating as the pivotal point for Adults & Health services, making sure services understand and are compliant in a wide range of areas including risk, audit, forward planning, service planning and equalities
  • Supporting the Business Manager in preparing strategic forums, undertaking research & preparing briefings, supporting directorate communications and events and the directorate’s business continuity and resilience function.
  • Working with project leads to provide skilled project support for key projects within the service area, the wider directorate and with partner organisations as required

The role also requires:

  • Maintaining key governance documentation including the information asset register, risk registers, team and service work plans and business continuity plans
  • Submission of responses for corporate and partner governance requirements
  • Undertaking research and horizon scanning, preparing briefings,
  • Project management
  • Developing and implementing internal communications
  • Maintaining key assurance documentation including risk registers, audits and business continuity plans

Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

  • Have excellent time management skills to manage their workload, be able to prioritise and work to deadlines, be happy to work under their own initiative
  • Have keen attention to detail
  • Be experienced in building relationships and engaging successfully with colleagues and partners
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Have knowledge of procurement and commissioning and/or health and social care, or a willingness to quickly develop their knowledge in these areas
