If you thrive on variety, enjoy helping others, and want to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you!

This position is being advertised for Buckinghamshire Council internal and agency employees only.

About us

Our Property & Assets team is dedicated to providing safe, well-managed spaces that support a wide range of activities and events. We value collaboration, ambition, and professionalism in everything we do.

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About the role

As a Community Centre Officer, you will:

  • Oversee the daily operations of designated community centres, ensuring they are open, accessible, and safe for all users.
  • Liaise with the community and provide excellent customer service, handling enquiries and managing bookings.
  • Advise hirers on licensing and insurance requirements for both regular and one-off bookings.
  • Unlock and lock up the centre for each hiring, completing pre- and post-booking checklists.
  • Record and provide information to management and performance teams as needed.
  • Support building safety and security, including regular checks and effective use of building management systems.
  • Report faults and support the use of technology solutions implemented by the council.
  • Assist with fire evacuation plans, testing, and reporting in conjunction with the Community Leisure Manager.
  • Work with Health & Safety and Facilities Management to ensure compliance and a safe environment.
  • Ensure the centre is clean and maintained according to COSHH regulations.
  • Support the operation of CCTV systems in partnership with Property Services.

Mobile:

A ‘mobile’ role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You’ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings initiative and a positive attitude to every day. You’ll be comfortable working independently, ready to tackle challenges as they arise, and always focused on delivering excellent service to our community. Your strong communication and customer service skills will help you connect with a diverse range of people, while a basic knowledge of health and safety, IT skills (Excel and Word), and willingness to support with cleaning duties will ensure our centres run smoothly.
