2 x Commercial & Innovation Officer

Are you passionate about driving innovation and delivering exceptional service? Join Buckinghamshire Council’s Planning & Environment Directorate as a Commercial & Innovation Officer and play a key role in shaping a customer-focused, efficient Development Management Service. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that improve processes, enhance financial monitoring, and support planning performance agreements.
We have two opportunities available:
- 1 x fixed term contract/secondment until March 2027 (covering maternity leave). The main focus of this post is financial monitoring, including preparation of budget reports, track income and legal fees, and ensure accurate financial transactions. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in monitoring budgets.
- 1 x permanent contract. The main focus of this post will be to support continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in project management.

About the role
As a Commercial & Innovation Officer, you’ll provide specialist support across three key areas:
- Project Delivery: Lead and implement service improvement projects, manage registers, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Financial Monitoring: Prepare budget reports, track income and legal fees, and ensure accurate financial transactions.
- Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs): Act as the first point of contact for PPA customers, manage agreements, and monitor performance.
You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring high standards and innovative solutions that make a real difference to our residents.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in project delivery, financial monitoring, and customer service.
- Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and using digital tools like Microsoft Office and specialist systems.
- A strong communicator with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Educated to NVQ 4/ HND/BTEC level or equivalent

Our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate works with partners to help shape the future of Buckinghamshire. We deliver services on planning, economic growth, regeneration, strategic infrastructure, transport and property.
