Buckinghamshire Libraries are on the looking for a passionate Library Resources Officer to join our welcoming team in the Buckingham area, supporting both Buckingham Library and Winslow Community Library. Salary: £26,994 - £28,253 per annum based on full-time hours (salary will be pro-rata for part time hours)

You’ll be experienced in working as part of a team, but also be proactive in your workload and a support to colleagues in the absence of the Area Supervisor.

About the role

This is a customer-facing role which will require you to be present at a specific site location each day.

You’ll work in a team with shared goals and ambitions, with a focus on customer service and building partnerships with local organisations and community groups. We’re always exploring ways to enhance our offer, and we’re looking for someone who is comfortable sharing ideas, highlighting ways that we can work creatively, and who has a keen interest in delivering the key priorities for the library service.

This role will involve working as part of a library group across multiple sites, so applicants must be willing and able to work at multiple locations. Buckingham Library and Winslow Community Library will be the 2 main locations, but there will also be a need for travel to libraries across Buckinghamshire.

This is a part-time role of 17.25 hours per week. The working pattern is as follows:

Mondays X

Tuesdays 1 – 5pm 

Wednesdays 9.30 – 1pm 

Thursdays 1 – 5pm

Fridays 10 – 2pm 

Alternate Saturdays 10 – 1pm 

Sundays X

Saturdays will be worked on an alternating basis (one week on, one week off) with a consistent pattern.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Directly deliver library services to customers and resolve complex enquiries escalated by volunteers, for example by signposting to council services under the library’s role as a Council Access Point.
  • Be responsible for opening and closing the library, ensuring the building is in good order and carrying out regular health and safety checks.
  • Work with service colleagues to maintain a diary of planned activities and partner events to develop the library as a community hub, particularly around the areas of cultural participation and health and wellbeing.
  • Be proactive in marketing and monitoring the use of Library Flex including training library customers in the use of the Library Flex technology and delivering in person site specific induction sessions
  • As part of this role, you can also expect to support in delivering the library service, resolve complex customer enquiries, maintain stock and work with and supervise a group of volunteers including trustees and friends groups

Fixed

As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.
