Highways and Technical Services play a vital role in supporting our communities, keeping the county moving and ensuring our transport network is safe, resilient and well‑managed. We’re ambitious, collaborative and committed to continuous improvement. This transformation reflects both local priorities and significant national developments in the sector. These posts offer a genuine opportunity to shape how we manage and improve our network, drive innovation.

About the role

As a Green Claims Officer, you’ll investigate third‑party damage to the highway, gather and analyse evidence, and work with internal teams and external partners to recover costs and support enforcement activity. • Investigating damage to the highway and identifying those responsible.
  • Attending incident scenes to gather photographic and supporting evidence.
  • Preparing accurate documentation for enforcement and cost‑recovery cases.

  • Providing evidence to legal and litigation teams, to act upon our duties under theHighways Act 1980.
  • Supporting improvements to reporting, compliance and claims processes.

About you

You are a confident, inquisitive, and highly organised professional with a strong background in highways maintenance, enforcement, or a related technical field. You bring substantial experience in gathering, assessing, and interpreting complex information, and you are comfortable working independently to investigate incidents, identify responsible parties, and support cost‑recovery processes. You are able to constructively challenge, influence, and engage a wide range of stakeholders including internal teams, vehicle recovery partners, Thames Valley Police, and the public. You excel at building productive relationships, communicating clearly, and representing the service in a professional manner. You are committed to improving processes that strengthen compliance, support effective enforcement, and maximise the Council’s ability to recover costs.
