Talent & Careers Advisor

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity within our Talent OD & Learning Team for a forward-thinking Talent & Careers Advisor to deliver projects that support recruitment, redeployment and transfer of skills across the council to help retention, develop careers and avoid unnecessary redundancies or turnover.

The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to input into our Early Careers and Talent strategies, to help us to attract, retain and develop new talent across the workforce.

This is a fixed term/secondment role until the end of February 2027.

About the role

Within this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide career support and mentoring for those looking for internal redeployment or career moves.
  • Collaborating with managers and HR colleagues to deliver a positive and supportive employee experience and one where we try to match skills to suitable vacancies/alternative roles.
  • To provide support, training and mentoring to managers and employees on programmes, and provide tailored guidance and advice on career development to employees.
  • To keep up to date with national and regional activity relating to staff development.
  • To obtain data/feedback on relevant projects, report on their effectiveness and make recommendations for future projects.
  • Collaborate with Talent & Careers colleagues, to ensure a cohesive approach to redeployment, apprenticeship strategy, work experience and Horizons programme activity.
  • Delivery/facilitation of content to support organisational needs.
  • Act as the first point of contact on all aspects of redeployment and skills matching for vacancies in the council, work experience, Horizons, apprenticeships and early careers, supporting employees and managers and advising them of steps and responsibilities in the process.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to employees and managers driving forward innovative and effective talent and careers solutions.
  • Work with line managers and wider Talent OD team to commission and map out employability and early careers intervention and support.
  • Work with services across the organisation to proactively identify upcoming job opportunities,
  • Champion our values and model behaviours that inspire others.
