About the role
As an Information Governance Support Officer, you’ll help deliver effective information governance processes across the organisation. The Support Officer will provide efficient and accurate administrative support across data protection, records management and complaints functions, managing records, processing information accurately and supporting data protection and information governance casework.
The role involves the use of case management systems, databases or similar tools to log, track and update cases accurately. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining complete, accurate and auditable records in line with organisational procedures. The role requires managing multiple tasks and workstreams at the same time while ensuring deadlines are met. The Support Officer will work in a deadline‑driven environment with competing priorities and changing demands.
The role includes drafting, managing and issuing correspondence, emails and written responses. The postholder will support internal teams by handling information securely, professionally and confidentially. The role involves communicating with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, including members of the public, in a clear, professional and sensitive manner.
Throughout everything you do, you’ll help promote a professional and positive image of the Council.
About you
You’re well organised, methodical and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable working with data, records and administrative systems.
You’ll bring:
- You will have proven administrative experience and be confident working with case management systems or similar databases.
- You will be highly organised and able to prioritise your workload effectively.
- You will demonstrate strong time‑management skills and the ability to work with competing deadlines and demands.
- You will have a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and information security.
- You will be comfortable handling personal and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- You will demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
- You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to produce clear and concise correspondence.
- You will be able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- You will remain calm under pressure and adapt positively to changing priorities.
- You will have good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
You’ll be educated to GCSE/NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) and able to communicate clearly with members of the public.
