Location: Aylesbury
Overview
Are you an experienced IT professional who loves solving complex challenges and improving the way organisations work? We are looking for a 3rd Line Engineer to join our forward‑thinking Client Experience Team. This is a role where you will support critical systems, lead on technical improvements, and play a key part in shaping our long‑term digital strategy.
If you enjoy working in a dynamic environment, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and using your expertise to make a meaningful difference, this could be your next big step.
About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
In this role, you will provide high‑level technical support, ensuring our systems are robust, secure and fit for the future. You will work across complex environments, supporting major IT initiatives, contributing to organisational planning, and decision‑making.
You will be involved in everything from supporting core infrastructure to influencing strategic improvements. Day‑to‑day, you will work closely with colleagues, customers and partners to ensure excellent service delivery, manage risk, and keep systems performing at their best.
A few key aspects of the role include:
- Leading on resolving complex technical issues and providing expert guidance.
- Supporting major IT projects, upgrades and system improvements.
- Developing and maintaining system policies, procedures and business continuity plans.
This is a role where your technical insight will truly shape the organisation’s digital capabilities—and where continuous improvement and innovation are encouraged every day.
About you
You are someone with deep technical knowledge, confidence in your decision‑making, and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels. You are motivated by continuous improvement and enjoy applying your expertise to deliver positive change.
To succeed, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in a senior technical role within a large or complex organisation.
- Proven expertise in IT end‑user support, with a proven record of resolving technical issues efficiently while delivering a high-quality user experience.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate.
- Excellent time‑management and problem‑solving skills, with a proactive and solution‑focused mindset.
If you enjoy working collaboratively, driving continuous improvement, and delivering outstanding results, we would love to hear from you.
