Family Learning Coordinator

Location: High Wycombe and the Chilterns

Overview

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Family Learning Coordinator to join our Community Learning team and make a real difference to families and communities across the county. This is a rewarding opportunity to support parents, carers and children in areas of deprivation, helping them build confidence, skills and a lifelong love of learning.

Based at Millbrook Adult Learning Centre, this role offers the chance to work collaboratively with schools, family centres and community partners to deliver high‑quality family learning provision that truly changes lives.

This is a fixed term/secondment position until 31st August 2027, working 30 hours per week.

About the role

As a Family Learning Coordinator, you will lead on the development, delivery and quality assurance of a vibrant family learning programme. Working closely with target schools and community settings, you will design and adapt courses and workshops that respond to local need and meet service and funding priorities.

You will play a key role in driving quality improvement by:

  • Planning and coordinating a well‑balanced programme of family learning across the academic year
  • Monitoring learner data, including enrolment, retention and achievement, to ensure positive outcomes and address any gaps
  • Carrying out observations of teaching, learning and assessment, course file audits and quality assurance activities
  • Supporting and developing tutors through induction, CPD sessions and ongoing guidance, modelling excellent teaching practice
  • Contributing to service self‑assessment and quality improvement plans, and supporting tutor recruitment when required
  • Delivering 1-2 Family Learning teaching sessions per week to model good practice

This is a varied role combining strategic planning, partnership working and hands‑on support to ensure families receive the best possible learning experience.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic and skilled professional with a strong commitment to family and community learning. You will bring experience of working within adult, community or school‑based learning and a good understanding of how education can support families and improve life chances.

You will have:

  • Substantial experience in adult and community learning, family learning or a related educational setting
  • Specialist knowledge of early years and/or primary education
  • A strong understanding of quality frameworks, including Ofsted and funding requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with learners, tutors and partner organisations
  • Experience of supporting, developing and motivating staff through observation, feedback and CPD
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems and learning platforms
