Virtual School Administrator

Location: Aylesbury

Overview

Are you highly organised, detail‑driven, and passionate about making a positive impact in children’s lives? Join our dedicated Virtual School team, where every day you help improve the educational outcomes of children in care across Buckinghamshire and beyond.

As a Virtual School Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a joint‑agency team committed to championing the achievement, progress and wellbeing of children looked after. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful change while developing your professional skills in a supportive, values‑led environment.

This is a permanent, part time role working 15 hours per week, term time only. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.

About the role

As a Virtual School Administrator, you will be at the heart of a busy, joint‑agency team. You’ll provide essential administrative and clerical support, helping the service run efficiently and ensuring colleagues have what they need to deliver high‑quality outcomes for children.

Your work will involve maintaining office systems and procedures in line with Council policies, managing telephone enquiries in a helpful and informed manner, and arranging meetings—including producing clear and accurate minutes. You’ll also play an important role in the smooth running of the office by taking on day‑to‑day administrative tasks and assisting the Office Manager with administrative tasks linked with the Virtual School training offer.

This is a collaborative environment where you’ll interact with a wide range of professionals both inside and outside the Council. Our organisational values—being Proud, Ambitious, Collaborative and Trustworthy—sit at the core of how we work, and you’ll be encouraged to reflect these in everything you do.

About you

You’ll bring a calm, organised and proactive approach to your work. Experience in a school role or similar administrative setting will help you feel at home in this role, as will your confidence using Microsoft Office applications. You’ll be someone who communicates clearly, pays attention to detail, and manages competing priorities with ease.

Because this role involves handling confidential and sensitive information, professionalism and discretion are essential. Strong written and verbal skills, along with accurate note‑taking, will be important as you support meetings and maintain records. You should feel comfortable working with established processes and systems, and confident engaging with stakeholders from across the education and care sectors.

To be considered, you will need Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, a full driving licence with access to a vehicle, and the flexibility to work additional hours if needed.

If you're someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team, takes pride in high‑quality administrative work, and wants a role that contributes to better outcomes for children, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
