About us

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About the role

As a Caseworker, you’ll manage a complex and varied caseload, supporting adult victims and potential victims of modern slavery and exploitation. You’ll take a trauma-informed, person-centred approach ensuring individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing proactive, tailored support to individuals in crisis, helping to reduce risk and improve wellbeing
  • Conducting risk assessments and developing needs-led action plans to safeguard individuals from harm
  • Managing referrals through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and Duty to Notify processes
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners including social care, housing, police, and specialist services
  • Advocating on behalf of individuals to ensure access to appropriate support services
  • Leading or contributing to multi-agency meetings to coordinate support and improve outcomes
  • Acting as a subject matter expert offering guidance, training, and consultation to professionals
  • Supporting intelligence gathering and identifying patterns or “hotspots” to inform preventative work.
  • Supporting partnership projects and activity to disrupt offenders and address specific areas of risk or harm related to modern slavery and exploitation

You’ll operate in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment, where your ability to build trust, exercise sound judgement, and adapt quickly will be key to success.

Mobile:
A ‘mobile’ role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You’ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and highly motivated to support vulnerable individuals through complex situations.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience working in safeguarding, community safety, social care, health, or a related field
  • Strong experience managing complex caseloads and working with vulnerable adults in crisis
  • A solid understanding of modern slavery, exploitation, the national referral mechanism process and associated safeguarding frameworks
  • Experience of multi-agency working and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and confidently with diverse audiences
  • Strong risk assessment and decision-making skills, using a trauma-informed approach
