BSL and SNN Team Leader

Overview
This new position is to lead the Building Safety Levy and Street Name and Numbering team. The team will administer the end‑to‑end Building Safety Levy and the Street Name and Numbering processes.

- This new position will sit within the Building Control team
- The BSL and SNN Team Leader will be reporting to the Building Control Business Support Manager
- The Building Safety Levy and will come into effect from 1st October 2026
About the role
- Key responsibilities are to:
- To manage and develop the BSL and SNN team.
- Along with their team, set up processes and procedures to administer the levy. Responsibilities of the team will include:
- Register Building Control applications and Initial Notices for works that could be subject to the levy
- Assess if works are subject to the levy
- If so, calculate the levy
- Using Uniform and Exacom to inform developers of decisions
- Deal with any amendments to plans and recalculate levy
- Regular spot checks
- This is a new piece of legislation that is constantly evolving so you need to be prepared to adapt quickly to new ways of working.
- Along with the team, look at the Street Name and Numbering processes and development more efficient was of working. Responsibilities of the team will include:
- The use of various applications to complete in-house research to resolve both addressing discrepancies and to determine the outcome of customer requests, aiming to avoid conflict/duplication, the processing of major developments, plotting, and numbering in a sequential and standardised way, including naming/re-naming existing streets.
- Ensuring the effective and timely consultation with developers, Parish Councils and Councillors regarding the decision making on appropriate new street name requests and dealing with addressing discrepancies between Royal Mail, NLPG (National Land and Property Gazetteer) and the customer.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We are looking for someone who understands the Building Control process, the Street Name and Numbering process and the purpose of the Building Safety Levy. Someone who has proven experience in leading a team, proven experience in initiating change, and great customer service skills.
