Overview

Are you an experienced Public Health Consultant looking for a unique opportunity to shape the future of population health across one of the largest integrated care systems in England?

Thames Valley Integrated Care Board is seeking two exceptional Public Health Consultants to establish and lead our new Population Health Unit, driving evidence-based decision-making to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for more than 2.5 million residents across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

This is a high-profile leadership role at the heart of our Strategy and Commissioning Directorate. You will provide expert public health leadership, develop a skilled multidisciplinary team, and work collaboratively with NHS, local authority, academic and wider system partners to ensure intelligence, insight and evidence are translated into meaningful action.

The post will be professionally supported and accountable to a local Director of Public Health, ensuring strong public health leadership, professional supervision and alignment with local authority public health practice. You will also benefit from peer support and continuing professional development through the Thames Valley public health network, which is committed to supporting ongoing learning, professional growth and system-wide collaboration.

  • Establishing and leading the Thames Valley ICB Population Health Unit.
  • Developing a strategic programme of work with LAs that supports evidence-based commissioning and decision-making.
  • Supporting the ICB's commitment to improving population health and tackling health inequalities.
  • Building strong partnerships with Directors of Public Health, local authorities, NHS organisations and academic institutions.
  • Leading a team of analysts, specialists and trainees while managing designated budgets.
  • Championing innovation, evaluation and the use of data and intelligence to improve health and care outcomes.

About you

You will be a qualified Public Health Specialist with substantial experience operating at a strategic level across complex systems. You will combine technical public health expertise with strong leadership, partnership-working and influencing skills.

Applicants must be included on the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) at the point of application or be within 6 months of registering
