Business Assurance Officer

Overview
Following the service review of our Business Assurance function, we are looking for a Business Assurance Officer to support the delivery of a modern, integrated approach to assurance across the Council. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of our Integrated Assurance Framework, helping ensure that assurance, risk and governance information come together to provide clear insight for decision-makers and strengthen organisational resilience.
You will be joining at a pivotal point as Buckinghamshire Council as we work to integrate our assurance, risk and audit capabilities across the Business Assurance function. Working across these disciplines, you will help develop the systems, information and insight that underpin effective governance, support strategic decision-making and provide confidence that key risks are being managed effectively.

About the role
As part of the Council's evolving Integrated Assurance Framework, you will support the coordination of assurance activity across risk management, internal audit and wider assurance providers. You will help develop assurance information, identify themes and trends, and contribute to a more holistic understanding of organisational risk and control effectiveness
This role offers an excellent foundation for a career in Business Assurance, providing exposure to internal audit, risk management, governance and organisational assurance. As our integrated assurance approach develops, there will be opportunities to gain experience across multiple assurance disciplines and develop specialist expertise.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
You'll bring:
- Relevant practical experience working as part of team to meet service standards, targets and deadlines.
- Good knowledge of service provided in own area and relevant processes, systems, policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, regulations, codes of practice and a working knowledge of other relevant Council areas.
- Ability to deal with people at all levels confidently, sensitively and diplomatically.
- Good planning and organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise workload, monitor and evaluate work, to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Being able to plan and organise own time and know how own work relates to others.
- Highly numerate and accurate with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to explain technical / specialist information in a way which a non-specialist can understand.
- Good ICT skills including use of Microsoft applications and specialist systems.
