Business Strategy and Governance Officer

Overview
We’re looking for a self-motivated and efficient officer to provide flexible and high quality administrative and project support to the Resources Directorate for 12 months. Working directly with senior leads across the directorate, you’ll be contributing to the development, implementation, maintenance and management of the governance framework. You’ll be co-ordinating reports across the directorate to ensure high standards are maintained. You’ll also get involved in collating statistics and research to support the production of reports to support the continuous improvement of the directorate.
You’ll be working in the heart of the largest directorate in the council, supporting the senior management team who deliver the core HR, Finance, IT and Business Operations functions.

The Resources Business Management function is a small, collaborative and varied team that provides high-quality governance, strategy, project and change management support to the Resources Senior Leadership Team. The team plays an important role in helping the directorate deliver organisational priorities and support the Council’s Corporate Plan.

About the role
You’ll be working at the heart of the Resources Directorate:
- Proactively contributing to the governance framework to ensure the highest standards are upheld
- Assisting with the preparation and production of project and programme reports
- Undertaking research, collating statistics and producing presentation reports
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
With extensive relevant business management or administrative experience, you’ll have:
- Authoritative knowledge of the systems, policies, regulations, professional guidelines like the Corporate Document Framework
- Ability to collate process and analyse complex information, ensuring all required information is maintained correctly.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Excellent ICT skills including use of Microsoft applications, in particular MS Teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Proven initiative and judgement to identify and resolve problems.

We are based in the Study Centre in Walton Street Offices at least once a week, sitting with the HR service.
