An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our outstanding team. Working collaboratively within our multi-disciplinary team of therapists, the role involves working closely with education staff to integrate therapy and learning throughout the school day. The school strives to place the learner at the heart of our multi-disciplinary provision, and to work with and support families and learners to meet their individual needs.

Heritage House School is a special school for learners aged 2-19 years with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions and sensory/multi-sensory impairments. About the role

Our Speech and Language Therapists work as part of a team, supporting learners in accessing all aspects of the curriculum, as well as liaising with parents/carers and other external professionals and agencies. Working closely with education staff, you will advise and support staff in delivering therapy programmes, the use of specialised equipment and approaches.

The role would involve:

  • Working directly with individual learners and with small groups
  • Assessing, advising and programme planning for individual learners in speech, language and the social use of communication.
  • Working collaboratively within the classroom and with the wider education and therapy team
  • Monitoring and reviewing learners progress, maintaining notes and reports to a high standard
  • Keeping learners parents and carers up to date with their programmes and progress, and contributing to the Annual Review report process
  • Providing training and advice to school staff

About you

The successful candidate will be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience of learners with additional needs. They will be organised, motivated and ambitious to be part of high-quality provision, working both strategically and responsively.

Dysphagia training would be desirable but not essential.
