Overview
The South Locality Adult Social Work Team serves a diverse population across High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Chesham, Marlow, Princes Risborough and the surrounding villages. The area includes a mix of urban centres, market towns and extensive rural communities, creating a diverse range of social care opportunities and challenges.
About us
Buckinghamshire is home to approximately 579,000 residents, with a median age of 42 years. The county has experienced significant population growth and has an increasing older adult population, with almost one in five residents aged 65 and over and further growth projected over the coming years
The team was formed in June 2026 following a review of the Long-Term Support and Review Teams. One of the aims is to further develop Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTs), with our community partners. This will enable residents to receive joined up consistency, responsiveness, and integration, with support closer to home.
The team supports adults with a wide range of care and support needs, promoting independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes with the principles of the Better Lives Strategy.

About the Role
As a Team Manager within Adult Social Care, you will lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering responsive, high-quality services to adults and their families. Working within a dynamic and evolving environment, you will ensure statutory responsibilities are met while promoting innovative, strength-based approaches that place people at the heart of everything we do.
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine operational leadership with strategic influence. You will work closely with internal colleagues, NHS partners, community organisations and other stakeholders to develop integrated ways of working that improve outcomes for residents. Alongside managing performance, quality and compliance, you will contribute to service improvement initiatives and help shape the future direction of Adult Social Care services.
You will be responsible for creating a supportive and positive culture where staff feel empowered, developed and equipped to deliver excellent care. Through effective coaching, supervision and leadership, you will drive continuous improvement while ensuring services remain compliant with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements and local policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing and developing a multidisciplinary Adult Social Care team.
- Promoting a strength-based, person-centred approach to assessment, support planning and service delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act.
- Providing leadership for safeguarding activity and ensuring effective management of risks and safeguarding arrangements.
- Driving service performance through quality assurance, audits, supervision and performance management.
- Managing budgets responsibly and contributing to effective financial planning and monitoring.
- Building strong relationships with health partners, community providers and other key stakeholders.
- Supporting service improvement programmes and the implementation of new ways of working.
- Responding to complaints, concerns and complex cases while maintaining high professional standards.
- Deputising for senior leaders and providing management support as required.

About you
We're looking for an inspirational and experienced leader with a strong background in Adult Social Care and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people and communities. You will be a confident decision-maker who can balance risk, professional judgement and compassionate leadership while supporting your team to deliver their very best work.
You will be highly organised, resilient and solutions-focused, with the ability to lead through change and operate effectively within a complex service environment. Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills are essential, as you'll work closely with colleagues, partners, service users and families at all levels.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience leading Adult Social Care teams at a senior level.
- Strong experience of safeguarding and managing complex social care situations.
- Expert knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, policy and professional practice.
- Proven ability to motivate, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience managing performance, driving service improvement and delivering customer-focused services.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, report writing and presentation skills.
- Strong planning, workload management and organisational abilities.
- Experience working collaboratively across agencies and building effective partnerships.
- Good ICT skills, including Microsoft applications and specialist social care systems.
- An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles and their application within service delivery.
Essential Qualifications
- Recognised Social Work or Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England or HCPC (as applicable).
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Ability to travel across the county and attend meetings as required.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
