Overview
Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a Resilience Administration and Project Officer to work in the Resilience Service, part of Business Operations. The Resilience Service consists of a team of six staff who will perform varying roles in supporting the Council to deliver integrated emergency management and business continuity functions.
This is a great time to join the team as you will perform a pivotal role in supporting the team to develop new structures to enhance our delivery of emergency management and community resilience.
We are a busy team of experienced professionals ensuring that the Council is ready and able to respond to any number of disruptive challenges and possible emergency situations affecting Buckinghamshire, whilst ensuring that the Council is in compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and associated Regulations and Guidance and other legislation.

About the role
The Resilience Administration and Project Officer will work closely with senior officers, carrying out a range of administrative duties to support the development, planning, and delivery of emergency plans. You will work as part of a small team to support all council services with regards to Integrated Emergency Management and with multi-agency partners to deliver the Resilience Framework and promote organisational and community resilience. There will be extensive opportunities to develop your knowledge and understanding of the resilience function.
There will be opportunities to lead on and support a range of development projects including the planning and delivery of emergency and business continuity plans, training and exercise planning both internally and with external partners. We will look to provide training in other areas to enable the post holder to develop new skills.
We also work with local communities to deliver resilience planning and training, opportunities will exist to develop these areas of service delivery and within partnership in multiagency structures.

Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We are seeking an individual who is up for a challenge and will actively take part in developing the Service moving forward. The successful candidate will have a range of skills to support office functions but also the adaptability to become involved in working in the emergency and business continuity environment. The Service will also be developing a new resilience framework to support our community resilience activities and we will be looking for you to be involved in the development work we undertake with community boards.
Educated to GCSE / NVQ 2 / 3 standard or equivalent, you'll possess ICT skills and be familiar with standard Microsoft packages.
You'll be able to demonstrate practical experience of working in an emergency management/environmental protection arena to support a team meet service standards. Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to explain technical issues in a straightforward manner is essential.

Interviews: face to face at the Walton Street Offices, Aylesbury.
With 8th and 9th September set aside for interviews.
The team are currently following Council guidelines with regards to working from home. Effectively the team work in the office on a Tuesday and Wednesday and from home the remaining three days of the week. The team manage the emergency response functions for the council and as such there may be periods where the number of days worked in the office is increased to ensure an appropriate response can be managed. This is at the discretion of the Head of Service for the Resilience Service.
Other members of the team do perform an out of hours emergency on call function for which they receive a payment. The Administration and Project Officer role does not have this requirement. That said you may be asked if you are available to work out of hours to assist in emergency response but there is no requirement to do so if asked. Payment or Flexi time is available.
