Community Safety Team Leader ( North)

Overview

Do you have the passion, leadership skills and determination to make a real difference to people, places and communities? We're looking for an experienced Community Safety professional to lead the delivery of community safety services across Buckinghamshire, tackling anti-social behaviour, protecting vulnerable residents and helping create safer, stronger neighbourhoods.

As a Community Safety Team Leader, you'll lead a dedicated team, manage complex and high-risk cases, and work closely with a wide range of partners to address community safety challenges and improve outcomes for residents across North Buckinghamshire.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering community safety priorities across Buckinghamshire. Working within a fast-paced, multi-agency environment, you'll lead operational activity aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour, supporting vulnerable individuals and tackling priority crime issues identified through the Safer Buckinghamshire Strategy.

You'll oversee complex investigations and enforcement activity, ensuring that interventions are proportionate, effective and legally compliant. No two days are the same; one day you could be reviewing high-risk anti-social behaviour cases or attending partnership meetings with the Police and other agencies, while the next you may be presenting evidence in court, leading community safety initiatives, or developing new approaches to improve service delivery.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the delivery of community safety services across a geographical area of Buckinghamshire.
• Managing complex and high-risk anti-social behaviour (ASB) and community safety cases.
• Working collaboratively with partners including Police, Housing Providers, Social Care and voluntary sector organisations.
• Undertaking investigations, gathering evidence and supporting enforcement action where appropriate.
• Representing the Council at court hearings, case conferences and multi-agency panels.
• Analysing crime, ASB and community intelligence to identify trends and develop targeted interventions.
• Monitoring service performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Supporting the development of policies, procedures and community safety initiatives.
• Leading and mentoring team members, fostering a high-performing and customer-focused culture.
• Contributing to project delivery, partnership working and community engagement activities.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements

About you

We're looking for a confident, resilient and collaborative leader who is passionate about improving community wellbeing and achieving positive outcomes for residents. You'll have significant experience within community safety, enforcement or a related field and be comfortable managing complex and sensitive situations where sound judgement, professionalism and strong decision-making are essential.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build credibility and influence a wide range of stakeholders, from residents and colleagues to senior leaders, elected members and external partners. You'll thrive in a partnership environment, bringing people together to solve problems, manage risk and deliver effective interventions. A proactive and solution-focused approach, combined with strong organisational skills and political awareness, will be key to your success.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience within community safety, anti-social behaviour, enforcement or a related service area.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including anti-social behaviour, safeguarding and data protection frameworks.
• Experience of managing complex cases, investigations and enforcement activity.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across multiple agencies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience of analysing information and intelligence to identify risks, trends and solutions.
• Strong leadership skills, including supporting and developing others.
• Experience of project delivery, service improvement and implementing change.
• The ability to represent an organisation confidently in legal, professional and public settings.
• A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as Community Safety, Criminology, Public Sector Management, Law or Social Policy, together with relevant professional development.

About the Service Area

As part of our Operational Community Safety Service, the Community Safety Team Leader plays a pivotal leadership role, managing the North Buckinghamshire Community safety operational team and driving the delivery of community safety, anti-social behaviour, crime reduction and safeguarding initiatives across the area. Reporting directly to the Community Safety Operations Manager, the postholder leads a multi-skilled team comprising of two Community Safety Officers, two Community Wardens and an Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, while working closely with Thames Valley Police, housing providers and other partner agencies. As one of two Community Safety Team Leaders within the service, the role sits at the heart of operational delivery, translating strategic priorities into tangible outcomes for residents, leading complex casework, coordinating multi-agency responses and ensuring Buckinghamshire remains a safe and resilient place to live, work and visit.
