IT Change & Release Officer
Location: Aylesbury
Overview
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and helping people get the very best from technology? Do you enjoy building strong relationships, solving problems and making a real difference behind the scenes?
We're looking for an IT Change & Release Officer to join our IT team, playing a key role in delivering a responsive, efficient and customer-focused service to colleagues across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with excellent customer service skills in a varied and rewarding role.
About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
As an IT Change & Release Officer, you'll act as a vital link between IT and our customers, ensuring colleagues receive the support they need to work effectively. You'll work closely with users across the organisation, including senior leaders and key stakeholders, helping to resolve issues, support service improvements and contribute to the successful delivery of new technologies and projects.
No two days are the same in this role. You'll be involved in providing hands-on support for IT services, monitoring customer incidents and service requests, producing user-friendly guidance and helping to ensure projects and service improvements are delivered smoothly.
You'll also play an important role in maintaining excellent customer relationships, keeping users informed and ensuring they receive a positive experience whenever they engage with the IT team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll be encouraged to share ideas, develop your skills and contribute to ongoing service improvements that make a genuine impact across the organisation.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing customer-focused IT support and building strong relationships with users across the organisation.
- Monitoring, investigating and escalating incidents and service requests to ensure timely resolution.
- Supporting the introduction, release and transition of new IT services and projects.
- Creating clear and accessible user guidance and documentation to help colleagues get the most from IT systems.
For a full list of responsibilities and duties, please refer to the Job Description.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We're looking for someone who is naturally customer-focused, approachable and enthusiastic about helping others. You'll enjoy working with a wide range of people, have strong communication skills and be able to explain technical information in a way that's easy for non-technical audiences to understand. You'll be proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
To be successful in this role, you'll have experience working within an IT service management or customer support environment and be confident working directly with customers. You'll bring strong problem-solving skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of ITIL principles, experience of customer-facing ICT support and a good understanding of Microsoft technologies, including Windows environments, would be highly beneficial.
You'll be educated to A Level, NVQ Level 3, HNC standard (or equivalent) and hold a relevant ITIL qualification. Most importantly, you'll share our values of being proud, ambitious, collaborative and trustworthy and be committed to delivering excellent service to our customers every day.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to work within a supportive and collaborative environment where your ideas and contributions are valued. You'll have the chance to develop your skills, work on a variety of interesting projects and play an important role in shaping the experience of IT customers across the organisation
