Pensions Administrator

Location: Aylesbury

Overview

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and passionate about providing excellent customer service? We're looking for a Pensions Administrator to join our friendly HR Pensions Team, where you'll play a key role in supporting colleagues, employees and pension scheme members, while helping ensure the smooth delivery of important pension services.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build your administrative career within a supportive team environment, gaining exposure to a variety of pension schemes and processes, while contributing to continuous service improvements.

About us

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About the role

As a Pensions Administrator, you'll provide essential administrative support to the HR Pensions Team, helping the Council meet its employer pension responsibilities across a range of schemes, including the Local Government Pension Scheme, Teachers' Pension Scheme and NHS Pension Scheme.

This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. You'll be involved in handling enquiries, managing shared inboxes, processing pension-related information, supporting monthly contribution returns and maintaining accurate records. You'll also be given the  opportunity to contribute to digital improvements and service enhancements, that help create a positive experience for both colleagues and customers.

Working closely with experienced pension professionals, you'll be part of a collaborative team that values accuracy, responsiveness and continuous improvement. This role would suit someone who enjoys administration, takes pride in delivering high-quality work and is motivated by helping others.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing incoming correspondence, shared inboxes and pension-related enquiries.
  • Supporting the administration of employee pension elections and maintaining accurate records.
  • Producing and monitoring reports to support pension contribution returns.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for telephone and general pension queries.

For a full list of responsibilities and duties, please refer to the Job Description.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and enjoys working as part of a team. You'll have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, while maintaining excellent levels of accuracy. You'll be comfortable working with systems and data, motivated to learn and committed to providing a high standard of customer service.

You'll be someone who approaches challenges positively, takes ownership of your work and enjoys building effective working relationships with colleagues and customers alike. A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute ideas that improve services will help you thrive in this role.

You'll also bring:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Good ICT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • GCSEs, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification.

Previous experience in pensions, HR administration, payroll, or a similar administrative environment would be beneficial, although full details of the selection criteria can be found in the Job Description.

Why Join Us?

You'll be joining a supportive team that values collaboration, development, and continuous improvement. We are looking for people who are proud of the work they do, ambitious to learn and grow, collaborative in their approach and trustworthy in all interactions. If you're looking for a role where your organisational skills and attention to detail can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
