About the role
As Corporate Business Support Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing large business support teams delivering services to Children's Services and wider Council functions.
You will:
- Lead, motivate and develop large multifunctional teams, creating a positive and high-performing culture.
- Ensure the efficient delivery of customer-focused business support services that meet agreed standards, deadlines and service objectives.
- Work closely with senior managers and stakeholders to understand service needs and deliver effective support solutions.
- Manage operational performance through KPIs, service reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities to modernise processes, improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.
- Lead and contribute to significant projects and transformation initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, performance management and professional development within your teams.
- Resolve complex customer and operational issues with confidence and professionalism.
- Deputise for CBS Business Partners when required.
- This role offers a fantastic opportunity to influence service delivery at a strategic level while remaining closely connected to operational excellence and customer outcomes.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We're looking for an inspirational people leader with excellent organisational skills and a track record of managing large teams in a customer-focused environment.
You will have:
- Significant management experience within a specialist business support, administration, operational or customer service environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop diverse teams.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams and competing priorities while maintaining high service standards.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
- Experience implementing service improvements and leading change initiatives.
- Confidence using performance data and KPIs to drive improvements and achieve outcomes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills and the ability to handle challenging or sensitive conversations.
- Strong ICT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and business systems.
- Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience.
