MIS Officer

Location: Buckinghamshire County Wide

Overview

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and passionate about providing excellent customer service? Do you enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure information is accurate, processes run smoothly and people receive the support they need?

We're looking for an enthusiastic MIS Officer to join our Adult Learning team. This varied and rewarding role plays a vital part in supporting learners, colleagues and centres across the service, by ensuring important information is recorded accurately and managed efficiently.

About us

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About the role

As an MIS Officer, you'll be at the heart of our Adult Learning service, helping to maintain accurate learner records, support enrolment processes and provide excellent administrative and business support across our centres. No two days are the same and you'll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of people including learners, tutors and colleagues across the wider service.

This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys combining administration, customer service and data management. You'll play an important role in ensuring that information is processed accurately and on time, helping the service meet operational and funding requirements, while delivering a positive experience for learners.

You'll work closely with the MIS team and centre-based colleagues, responding to enquiries, maintaining records, supporting enrolments and helping to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. You'll also contribute to improving processes, identifying potential errors and ensuring high standards of data quality across the service.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing learner enrolments, course changes and other learner data accurately.
  • Providing support and guidance to centre teams on MIS procedures and systems.
  • Responding to customer and colleague enquiries via telephone, email and other communication channels.
  • Running reports, monitoring data quality and helping to identify and resolve discrepancies.

For a full list of responsibilities, please refer to the Job Description.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need a desk, screen a keyboard to get your job done. You’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people. You'll be a strong communicator who can build positive relationships with colleagues and learners alike, remaining professional and customer-focused even when working to deadlines or managing competing priorities.

You'll have experience working in a customer-facing or administrative environment and be confident managing information accurately and efficiently. Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team. You'll be comfortable using a range of IT systems and Microsoft Office applications and will enjoy learning new processes and systems.

To be successful in this role, you'll need excellent customer service skills, strong literacy and numeracy abilities, good ICT skills and the confidence to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or working towards it) is required and an interest in adult learning and supporting learners to achieve their goals, would be highly beneficial.

Most importantly, you'll share our values of being proud, ambitious, collaborative and trustworthy, bringing a positive and proactive approach to everything you do.

For full details of the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications required, please refer to the Job Description.
