About the role
The Buckingham School’s vision is Success for All; success for our students, our staff and our community. By joining us, you will be part of an establishment that seeks to develop individuals holistically, where personal responsibility and self-improvement underpin all that we do. We are a student-centered school that recognises that our staff have the authority, expertise and passion to bring our vision to life.
We're looking for an exceptional SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a real difference and believes every child deserves the chance to thrive. If you're driven by the opportunity to inspire, nurture and transform young lives, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Working with students with cognition and learning needs, you'll support in delivering engaging, personalised learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and help every child achieve their potential. You'll recognise each student's unique strengths, celebrate every success and adapt your teaching to support meaningful progress both in and beyond the classroom.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new specialist provision in a mainstream school from the ground up. As a key member of our founding team, you'll have the chance to influence the curriculum, contribute to the school's vision and culture, and help create an inclusive environment where every young person feels valued, supported and a sense of belonging.
If you're looking for a role where your passion, creativity and expertise can truly change lives, we'd love to hear from you.
In return, we will offer you:
• A professional, supportive and experienced Team
• A personalised approach to Continuing Professional Development
• A role in a school that has a clear vision
• The opportunity to work with students who possess excellent attitudes to learning
• A learning environment that is ambitious, collaborative and forward-thinking
The Buckingham School has made huge strides with the SEND provision within the mainstream school environment. We currently have four support bases designed to support students with a variety of needs. Our enhanced provision (The Bridge) supports students who require extended transition from Primary school and are not key stage ready.
The specialist unit is the latest addition to a hub that will meet the needs of eight key stage three students who require a specialist provision and a heavily adapted curriculum.
The building work for the unit has started and whilst a large classroom space, a THRIVE sensory room and office make up the teaching space, a private garden accessible from the classroom with outdoor facilities is a secure area for students to access.
We want our students to feel a sense of belonging and so the mainstream site and staff are available to the students, activities and resources so our students truly feel like they belong to the Buckingham School.
As part of the support, you will have an immediate team of Teaching Assistant’s to support you in meeting the needs of the students. One of the TA’s will be THRIVE trained and deliver 1:1 and small group interventions as well as supporting in the classroom, one will support in the classroom.
Access to the specialist unit will be consulted through the local authority placement procedures of children with EHCPs and the unit will build its cohort over the Spring and Summer term.
The specialist unit will develop it’s on attendance, achievement and behaviour polices in line with a specialist provision and the SEN teacher will be part of the development of these policies.
