TTRO Officer

Location: Aylesbury

Overview

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and looking for a role where you can make a direct impact on keeping Buckinghamshire moving?

We're looking for a TTRO Officer to join our Highways and Technical Services team, supporting the coordination and management of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) across the county. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role behind the scenes, ensuring roadworks, events and other activities requiring road closures are planned safely, efficiently and in line with legislation.

Working closely with colleagues, contractors, utility companies and stakeholders, you'll help minimise disruption to residents and road users while supporting the delivery of essential works across Buckinghamshire.

About the role

As a TTRO Officer, you will manage and coordinate applications for temporary road closures and traffic restrictions, ensuring all legal, regulatory and consultation requirements are met.

You'll be responsible for drafting and processing Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders, liaising with internal teams, contractors, utility companies and external partners to ensure appropriate diversion routes and traffic management arrangements are in place. You'll also investigate enquiries, provide professional advice and help maintain accurate records using specialist systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and issuing Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders and related notices.
  • Coordinating consultation and engagement with stakeholders and affected parties.
  • Assessing applications and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Working closely with Buckinghamshire Highway Alliance partners and other external organisations.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and complaints regarding road closures and traffic restrictions.
  • Providing technical and procedural advice to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Supporting service improvement initiatives and helping to develop more efficient processes.
  • Producing reports, correspondence and management information to support decision-making.
  • Using specialist systems including Street Manager, One Network and related applications.
  • Supporting the Senior TTRO Officer and deputising when required.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you

We're looking for someone who has excellent organisational skills, enjoys working with technical information and can confidently communicate with a wide range of people.

You will be able to manage competing priorities, interpret legislation and provide practical solutions while maintaining high levels of customer service. You'll also have a collaborative approach and enjoy working as part of a team to deliver positive outcomes for residents and stakeholders.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • Experience within highways, traffic management, regulatory services or a related environment.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, legislation relating to Traffic Regulation Orders and roadworks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience analysing information and producing clear reports and recommendations.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using specialist systems and databases.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with contractors, partners and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent service and continuous improvement.
  • A full driving licence and flexibility to undertake site visits when required.
