Multi-Site Building Assistant
Location:
Overview
Are you practical, proactive and passionate about providing excellent customer service? Do you take pride in creating safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments?
We're looking for a Building Assistant (Multi-Site) to play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operation of our corporate buildings across Buckinghamshire. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. From supporting meetings and events to ensuring security, health and safety compliance, and building maintenance, you'll help create environments where our staff, residents, partners and visitors can thrive.
As a mobile worker, you'll provide support across multiple council locations and work closely with the County Sites Manager to deliver high-quality facilities management services.
About us
You’ll join our Communities Directorate within Corporate Property & Assets (Estate Management) supporting the effective management and compliance of a diverse and complex property portfolio. Our work enables vital public services to operate safely and efficiently, so what we do makes a real difference every day.
About the role
As a Building Assistant, you'll be at the heart of keeping our buildings operational, safe and welcoming. You'll support a wide variety of facilities management activities and respond to the changing needs of our sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring buildings remain safe, secure and maintained to a high standard.
- Monitoring and supporting building security systems and access controls, including issuing access badges.
- Preparing meeting rooms, committee spaces and event areas to meet customer requirements.
- Supporting health and safety compliance, including Fire Marshal duties, incident reporting and compliance checks.
- Responding promptly to building-related issues and coordinating repairs through the Facilities Helpdesk.
- Assisting with room bookings, customer enquiries and building operations.
- Supporting emergency planning activities and operational cover across sites.
- Liaising with internal teams, contractors, tenants and visitors to ensure a professional service is delivered at all times.
- Maintaining accurate records using systems such as Microsoft applications, ServiceNow and SAP.
This role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to make a visible difference to the operation of key council facilities across the county.
Mobile:
A ‘mobile’ role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You’ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused and able to work confidently in a busy operational environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in facilities management, building operations, caretaking or a similar practical environment.
- Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to prioritise tasks, solve problems and respond positively to changing demands.
- Experience using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- A flexible approach and willingness to travel between sites as required.
- GCSEs, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
- A full driving licence
