We're looking for an IT Analyst (Application Support) to join our team and play a key role in supporting, developing and improving the business-critical applications that help deliver essential services across the Council.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working across a varied technology landscape, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and helping drive continuous improvement through innovative digital solutions.

About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
As an IT Analyst (Application Support), you'll be responsible for the ongoing support, maintenance and development of a range of corporate applications that are vital to the delivery of services across the organisation. Working within a collaborative IT team, you'll help ensure systems remain reliable, secure and fit for purpose, whilst identifying opportunities to enhance functionality and improve the user experience.
No two days are the same in this role. You'll work closely with users, suppliers and technical colleagues to resolve application issues, support upgrades and enhancements, contribute to projects, and provide expert advice to stakeholders. Whether you're troubleshooting technical problems, supporting system improvements, developing new solutions or helping users get the most from their applications, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
This role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with excellent customer service and communication skills. You'll be encouraged to bring forward new ideas, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain and troubleshoot business-critical applications used across the organisation.
- Work with users, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver system improvements and enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance, documentation and training to support application users.
- Contribute to projects, software upgrades and continuous service improvement activities.

Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need a desk, screen a keyboard to get your job done. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and finding practical solutions. You'll be someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, can manage competing priorities, and is comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A collaborative approach, a willingness to learn and a passion for improving services through technology will help you thrive in this role.
You'll have strong IT knowledge and experience supporting business applications within a Windows-based environment, alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience with technologies such as SharePoint, Power BI, SQL Server, Oracle, ArcGIS, Microsoft 365 applications or similar enterprise systems would be highly beneficial. Experience of application development, customisation, project delivery and continuous improvement activities would also be advantageous, depending on your level of experience.
We're looking for someone who demonstrates our values by being proud in the work they deliver, ambitious in seeking improvements, collaborative in their approach and trustworthy in everything they do.
