Brokerage and Placements Support Officer
Location: Aylesbury
Overview
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? Do you enjoy finding solutions, building relationships, and working in a role where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help others?
We're looking for a Brokerage and Placement Support Officer to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you'll help source and arrange high-quality care and support services for individuals across the community, ensuring they receive the right care, at the right time, and at the right price. You'll play a vital role in helping some of our most vulnerable residents access the support they need to live safe, fulfilling lives.
About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
As a Brokerage and Placement Support Officer, you'll be at the heart of the care purchasing process, working closely with care providers, social care professionals, healthcare colleagues and partner organisations to identify and secure the best possible care solutions for individuals. Whether arranging residential care, supported living, home care, day services, or nursing placements, your work will have a direct impact on people's wellbeing and outcomes.
This is a fast-paced and highly rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll balance competing priorities, respond to urgent placement requests, negotiate with providers and ensure care arrangements offer both quality and value for money. You'll develop strong knowledge of the local care market and build positive relationships with suppliers, helping to shape solutions that meet individual needs, while supporting wider service objectives. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you'll contribute to service improvements and help identify opportunities to strengthen the support available across the county.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Sourcing high-quality care and support services tailored to individual needs.
- Building positive relationships with care providers and negotiating placements.
- Working closely with social workers, healthcare professionals and partner organisations.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring purchasing processes are completed efficiently and compliantly.
For a full overview of the responsibilities and duties associated with this role, please refer to the Job Description.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need a desk, screen a keyboard to get your job done. You’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, compassionate and solution-focused, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people who need care and support. You'll be confident communicating with a wide range of people, able to build strong working relationships and comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly. A positive attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to think creatively when finding solutions will help you thrive in this role.
You'll ideally have knowledge of the health and social care sector, the different types of care available and experience working with suppliers, customers, or stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. Strong organisational, negotiation and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing demands effectively. You'll be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and other systems to support your work and will have a good understanding of delivering excellent customer service.
Applicants should be educated to A Level, HNC standard or equivalent and will bring a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about making a difference, working collaboratively with others, and ensuring individuals receive the high-quality support they deserve. For full details of the essential and desirable criteria, please refer to the Job Description.
