Social Worker

Location: Buckinghamshire County Wide

Overview

Are you passionate about helping people live more independently and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them? Do you want to work in a supportive, forward-thinking team where your expertise can make a real difference every day?

We're looking for qualified Social Workers and Occupational Therapists to join our Adult Social Care team. In this rewarding role, you'll work directly with adults, their families and partner organisations to promote wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes for Buckinghamshire residents. Whether you're helping someone navigate complex challenges or supporting them to remain active within their community, you'll play a vital role in improving lives.

About us

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated Adult Social Care service where strengths-based, person-centred practice is at the heart of everything we do. As a Social Worker, you'll manage a varied caseload, working with adults and their support networks to understand their needs, identify solutions and deliver meaningful interventions that maximise independence and wellbeing.

No two days are the same. You'll undertake assessments, develop outcome-focused support plans, contribute to safeguarding activity, and work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals and community partners. You'll be empowered to use your professional judgement, build strong relationships and take a proactive approach to helping people achieve their goals while ensuring the right support is in place when needed.

You'll also benefit from regular supervision, ongoing professional development opportunities and the chance to be part of a service that is committed to delivering high-quality support, continuous improvement and excellent outcomes for residents.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of adults, undertaking strengths-based assessments and reviews.
  • Developing personalised support plans that promote independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, health professionals and partner organisations.
  • Supporting safeguarding activity and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.

For full details of the role and responsibilities, please refer to the job description.

Mobile:

A ‘mobile’ role gives you the flexibility to schedule your own diary, so you can meet with colleagues and clients in a variety of locations. You’ll access digital folders and resources on your laptop and be able to use the network wherever you are based. Working from home will be common, as well as meeting your team in the office where necessary.

About you

We're looking for compassionate, motivated and professionally curious individuals who are passionate about making a difference in people's lives. You'll be someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships, thinks creatively to find solutions and remains focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for adults and their families. You'll be confident managing competing priorities, able to work autonomously when required, and committed to delivering high standards of professional practice.

To be successful, you'll be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with experience of working with adults in a statutory setting. You'll have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including safeguarding principles, and experience of undertaking assessments, developing outcome-focused plans and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Excellent communication, analytical and report-writing skills are essential, along with a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, be able to work with minimal supervision, and demonstrate confidence in managing competing demands while maintaining a high standard of practice. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), including healthcare professionals, families, carers, and partner agencies. We are looking for someone who can confidently navigate complex situations, manage risk, and work sensitively with families to achieve positive outcomes for individuals during what can often be a challenging and emotive time.

We're interested in people who share our values, demonstrate professionalism and integrity, and are passionate about helping people lead safe, independent and fulfilling lives. For full details of the essential criteria, qualifications and experience required, please refer to the job description.

We understand that candidates may use AI tools to assist with their applications. While we welcome innovation, we expect all submissions to reflect your own experience, skills, and achievements accurately. Please ensure your application is truthful and demonstrates your personal capabilities, as this will be assessed during the selection process.
