Safer Buckinghamshire Partnership Senior Officer
Location: Buckinghamshire
Overview
Are you passionate about making a real difference to communities and helping people feel safer where they live, work and thrive? Do you enjoy bringing people together, influencing positive change and tackling complex challenges through collaboration?
We're looking for a Safer Buckinghamshire Partnership Senior Officer to play a key role in shaping and delivering community safety priorities across Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a strategic level with a wide range of partners to reduce harm, prevent crime and improve outcomes for local residents.
About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
About the role
As a Safer Buckinghamshire Partnership Senior Officer, you will play a strategic role in leading and coordinating multi-agency activity to deliver the priorities of the Safer Buckinghamshire Partnership Board. You will take responsibility for allocated community safety priorities and partnership sub-groups, helping partners turn strategic commitments into well-coordinated and measurable action.
Working across themes that may include exploitation, crime prevention, community cohesion, safeguarding and other emerging community safety issues, you will help develop strategies, policies and delivery plans. You will provide expert advice, analyse emerging risks and trends, and prepare reports, presentations and recommendations that support effective decision-making by the Council and its partners.
You will build strong relationships across the Council, police, health, fire and rescue, probation, voluntary and community organisations and other key partners. Through these relationships, you will influence priorities, secure participation and help ensure that partners remain accountable for delivering agreed outcomes.
The role also includes leading complex projects and partnership initiatives, monitoring performance, supporting communications and engagement activity, and responding to sensitive or escalated community safety issues. Depending on the responsibilities allocated to the successful candidate, the role may also include line management and oversight of funding, commissioned activity or partnership resources.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead allocated Safer Buckinghamshire priority areas, multi-agency sub-groups and partnership initiatives, coordinating strategies and delivery plans.
- Provide expert advice and use data, evidence and insight to respond to complex or emerging community safety issues and inform strategic decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing partners and securing collaborative action and accountability for shared outcomes.
- Lead projects and programmes, monitoring performance and progress to ensure agreed outcomes are delivered effectively.
Please refer to the job description for the full list of responsibilities and further information about the role.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you will need a desk, screen and keyboard to get your job done. You’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office at least two days a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We are looking for a confident, proactive and relationship-focused professional who is passionate about community safety and making a positive difference to people's lives. You will be able to provide clear and authoritative advice, interpret complex information and translate evidence into practical recommendations, strategies and delivery plans. You will also be comfortable managing sensitive issues, balancing competing priorities and influencing senior stakeholders in politically or operationally complex situations.
Strong project management, communication and relationship-building skills will be essential, together with experience of coordinating multi-agency activity and delivering measurable outcomes. You will be proactive, organised and able to work with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining effective governance, reporting and accountability.
You will have significant experience working within community safety or a related field, alongside a strong understanding of partnership working, relevant legislation and the challenges facing local communities. You will be skilled at building effective working relationships, leading projects, analysing information and developing practical solutions to complex issues. Experience of working across multi-agency environments and contributing to strategy and policy development will be highly beneficial.
